PLANS ON JOHN LENNON’S BIRTHDAY

There are rumors of a big plans for john Lennon 70th birthday this October.  There are plans to make notations very much memorable in Liverpool.  They are planning to honor john Lennon on a 70th birthday on Saturday, October 9, 2010.  It was said that they will be creating three authorize time capsules and they would bury it until October 9, 2040.  They will store it on the rock hall and two other locations on different parts of the world which they believe has significance to John’s legacy.

They said that the purpose of making a capsule is to preserve john Lennon’s legacy and for the children of today and tomorrow to know they want to share it with them.  But I think this is not necessary and because his legacy is already attached amongst the hearts of those who knew the Beatles and the things that he had done and contributed in favor of world peace.  Even though he lived a short life, he still manages to contribute a big deal in terms of peace and love.  The messages of his songs are all significant and meaningful.  Because of this, we don’t need no time capsule to remember john Lennon’s legacy.

PRACTICE

Why should you practice?  Why should you spend the rest of your time just to practice guitar?  Well the answer to this is very simple if you really want to be good in playing the guitar there is no other way but to practice and practice religiously and practice hard and practice as much as you can.  Most beginner guitar players questioned me a lot about how often should they practice.  I said, should practice as often as possible.  Even the greatest guitar players are still dedicating hours of their time just to practice.  They always thing there is always room for improvement even if they are already there on that level of guitar playing which we call legendary.  If you can see their attitude towards practice, you would see that they treat practice, like something very important, something like a religious ritual.  Something that is a very important part of their lives.  And not suggesting they should practice the whole day, because as ordinary people, we have things that we should do in our everyday lives that doesn’t include playing the guitar.  On that case, you can spend two hours of your time for practice, or you could set any vacant time that you have for practice.  But if you doing this as a profession, you should definitely spend more time practicing.

HOW TO SURVIVE YOUR FIRST GIG

Picture this situation: you surpassed the beginner stage and now you could be able to perform songs without difficulties.  You join a band and you made songs together.  Now you’re all set to perform on a certain evening.  Now, the evening came.  You are about to perform in front of several people.  Now I know this is common with all guitar players were about to play their first gig, and they want to tell you that it is very much normal to feel very nervous.  It’s very much OK.  Some people actually piss in their pants out of nerves.  But you don’t have to piss in your pants.  Here’s something that would help you call her that stage fright.  This is also what I did.  But for your information, and did not pissed in my pants.

First, make sure that you have rehearsed everything thoroughly because making a mistake on stage could screw up your nerves very bad and you might lose it.  Do not drink coffee.  If you’re 18 and above, you could down a bottle of beer just to heat you up.  And speaking of heating you up, don’t forget to warm up.  The best thing that you could do and don’t think about it.  Pretend that this is all part of the show and it is a normal thing.  And you will be alright.

BEING IN A BAND

being in a band is the best job in the world if you are really, really famous. Look at it this way: you are playing, performing and singing your songs, doing the things that you want and getting paid for it. Now, who wouldn’t want that? That is why many aspiring guitar players practice hard and do their best to get into a band and when they do, the next problem arises, how to popularize your band. You don’t get there easily, you need to work hard for it. And it might cost you a bit before you get there. You can’t get it all by pure talent. You must have charisma.

Have you noticed some bands that have lots of followers? It is not only because they are good, it is also because they have charisma and they draw people to them with their presence. That is the most important thing you should have, stage presence. You should not only be good with your instruments, but you should also be good in performing it and projecting an image. You should not look lame on stage. People should be amazed by your performance. If the crowd loves you then you will simply become popular and get the job of your dreams.

LOVE PARADE TURNED INTO DEATH PARADE

Around 19 people were counted as casualties when a stampede erupted at the ongoing LOVE PARADE dance festival in Duisburg, Germany.  The police were trying to keep people from overcrowding but the crow panicked, chaos erupted and 19 were killed and a hundred more were left injured.  Police are currently investigating the cause of the stampede.

The government of the city sent out their condolences and promised to have a full inquiry regarding the tragedy. Despite this, the event went on not knowing about the casualty behind. The organizers said later on that the event will never happen again.

Now that is what we call human tragedy. They were passing a tunnel when all of a sudden people came trampling down one another until some have been stepped on and killed. Most of the people out there were youth, who traveled just to party with other young people, but instead, met instant death by trampling. 19 young people were crushed to death by party goers.

Police didn’t issued an order to evacuate the area and stop the festival because of the fear that it might cause more stampede and panic and produce more chaos and casualties.

REPLACING YOUR GUITAR STRINGS

Changing guitar strings is one of the most difficult things to do in the whole wide world. You need to bring the guitar to Scientists in Europe and Skopje just too properly replaces it or else is at risk. This is the same with un-arming a nuclear bomb and should not be done by ordinary people like you.

Of course, I am only joking.

Kidding aside, replacing your guitar strings is an essential skill to learn since you would have the need to replace it once in a while (every week in my case because I have an acidic sweat or whatever they call It.) and you can’t always trust this to your guitar tech or somebody else. Knowing how to replace your string first hand is something that you should learn by yourself and should be done by yourself too.

First, observe the guitar. Observe which direction you should turn the tuning pegs to tighten or loosen it your guitar strings. Check the alignment of the string from the nut up to the bridge and determine which the thickest guitar string is. Now, have the following tools ready: pliers, string winder, soft cotton cloth and guitar cleaning polish.

Use the string winder to loosen up the string. Then remove it using the pliers. That’s it. It is also important to remove the strings one by one because removing it at the same time might cause problems on the neck of your guitar. Place the strings using the reversed process of removing it.

LENNON ON A BRITISH COIN

Lately, Britain’s Royal Mint is surveying the public on choosing the next person to be placed on a British Coin. This would be another Great Briton collectible series. They have been doing this for a while now and have honored in the past personalities such as William Shakespeare, Winston Churchill, Charles Darwin, Florence Nightingale and Sir Isaac Newton. People have been voting for a while now and guess who’s number four on the rankings; John Lennon.

Well, Lennon indeed is a great Briton. They already Knighted Paul McCartney, why not place Lennon on a coin to immortalize his legacy. Lennon indeed has brought pride and fame for the country by becoming one of the most influential artists in the whole world as a group and a solo performer. Also, he’s one of the most renowned songwriter, singer, guitar player and peace advocate. Talk about multi – tasking. And everyone knows, the whole world knows that Lennon and McCartney is the unbeatable tandem in songwriting and has penned a bucketful of songs and hits that sold millions worldwide. All in the name and glory of the British Flag. So I think that it is only righteous to put him on a coin as a memory and tribute to all his works. Or better yet, include McCartney two, the both of them on one coin.

PALM MUTING

This is one essential technique for guitar players and should be mastered. From the chunky heavy chug of the distorted guitar to the percussive single notes, it’s all palm muting. In rock music, this is an essential thing to learn. Palm muting is basically a technique to create muffled sounds. When paired up with a distortion pedal, it creates several types of sounds, from a crunchy sound to a heavy chugging sound. Knowing how to use this is important, especially in rock music.

Palm muting is also used in guitar solos to create variety. It’s like killing a certain frequency then going all out when removing the palm mute. Palm mute is done by slightly touching the string near the bridge part with the side of your right palm. Make sure you don’t put too much pressure for it to sound right. Also, don’t forget to not make it too light because it won’t sound right either. You should apply the right amount of pressure only to make a perfect palm muted sound.

Using palm mute on low – pitched chords could extremely emphasize the heaviness of the chord, especially in metal songs. So learn palm muting and know its different uses.
